Institute for Automated Mobility established in Arizona

Institute for Automated Mobility

Gov. Doug Ducey has signed an executive order to establish the Institute for Automated Mobility, a public-private partnership that will form a research center and proving ground where companies can vet and improve the safety of self-driving vehicle systems.

A site hasn’t been chosen, but plans include an enclosed 2.1-mile track where companies can test and repeat scenarios that may be too dangerous for public roads. This is the first state-sponsored institute focused on this type of safety. Through this project, Arizona is leading the charge in development of essential safety technology across the country.
