Bicycle racing enthusiasts rejoice: SOAZ residents need not fly to France to witness a Grand Départ. This Saturday, April 13, denizens of the Grand Canyon State will have front row seats to the Tour de Scottsdale.
Two routes (a metric and half-metric century) will begin at 7 and 8 a.m. respectively. Dubbed the most scenic bike ride in the country, the former circumnavigates the McDowell Mountains and takes cyclists through Scottsdale, Rio Verde and Fountain Hills while gaining a whopping 3,383 feet of vertical climb.
Keen on watching a metric century unfurl in real time? Check out these routes.
