After 31 days of March Madness (a term coined by commentator Brent Musberger during the 1982 tournament.), State Farm Stadium in Glendale will play host to the NCAA Final Four April 6-8.
The inaugural NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament was played in 1939 among eight teams. The field grew to 16 in 1951, doubled to 32 in 1975 and reached its current cast of 64 in 1985.
Arizona, appearing in the Final Four on four occasions, has appeared twice in the National Championship: In 1997, they beat Kentucky in overtime to clinch the title; in 2001, they lost to Duke.
