Spring has sprung at Tucson’s Reid Park Zoo as evidenced by a brand-new reticulated giraffe calf named Moyo. Gleaned from the Swahili word for “heart,” the moniker was chosen by community members in honor of two distinctive heart-shaped spots on his neck.
The first offspring of Penelope and Jasiri, Moyo’s arrival is the zoo’s first in almost 24 years. After a month, he is a whopping seven feet tall!
Enjoy exploring all the wildlife delights the zoo has to offer during extended hours for Spring Break, March 8-17, when the grounds will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
