Tooth Fairy giving reaches an all-time high; Arizona averaging more than $5 per tooth

The current value of a lost tooth — $4.70 — is the highest payout in the history of the survey, four-cents higher than the previous peak in 2017 at $4.66. Got a fiver for that tooth? Findings from Delta Dental’s Original Tooth Fairy Poll® show that the Tooth Fairy’s average cash gift reached its highest point in the 23-year history of the poll for a total of $4.70 per tooth.

Here in the West, the Tooth Fairy upped her giving by nearly $2 over the last 12 months, leaving an average of $5.54 for a lost tooth. The average value of a lost tooth has more than tripled since Delta Dental began analyzing the Tooth Fairy’s annual giving trends in 1998, when the value of a lost tooth was $1.30.
