Over the years, Lexus has taken a lot of flak for making cars that are slower than their German, Italian, and American rivals. Granted, the flagship LC 500 can easily be outrun by a Mustang GT half its price.
But Lexus never cared about the race to 1/4 mile. They care about the race to 150,000 miles. And there’s something truly special about a car you can buy today and spend two decades with before it shows signs of age.
I’ll buy an LC 500 one day. But at 14 years old, my 2008 IS 350 is just broken in.
