Traveling to Kelowna in British Columbia, Alex Simon had the horrifying realization that his passport was still in Phoenix and he wouldn’t be allowed to board the plane from Seattle to enter Canada.
Thankfully, he realized he did have a passport card, which allows for land border crossings in Canada and Mexico. He rented a car and drove to Kelowna.
A passport card is also good for entering the Caribbean and Bermuda by sea, but is not valid for air travel.
If you travel to these destinations by land or sea consider the convenience of applying for a passport card.
