As the son, grandson and great-grandson of preachers, the concept of tithing was cemented early on.
Fast forward a couple decades, and a request from a friend changed me: “I don’t want you to write a check, Jeff; I want you to put your whole self to work.”
After four days of giving back via physical labor, I returned from that mission trip to Mexico vowing to remain involved in purpose-driven work.
These days, whether serving food or building houses, I’m grateful for having been challenged to put my hands – and my time – to good use in support of others.
