According to an ASU research report, Arizona is 270,000 housing units short – and U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani might have a solution.
In January, Ciscomani introduced his idea to fast-track construction of affordable housing by cutting red tape and encouraging partnerships.
The Speeding Up Production of Essential Residences (SUPER) Demonstration Act proposes a pilot program in 10 communities across Arizona – focused on reducing construction time and costs – by decreasing regulatory requirements for developing affordable housing.
Who benefits? Frontline workers in Phoenix, for instance, who cannot afford to buy a single-family home (or rent a two-bedroom apartment) based on current prices.
