Good news: Americans are traveling more than ever in 2023.
Bad news: We are wasting a ton of food when we are on vacation. New research shows 119 billion pounds are wasted every year, almost 40% of the food produced in America.
Travel writer and Florida landlord Diane Daniels says while vacationers don’t want to waste food, they do not want to have to work hard to find somewhere to leave it.
Next time you leave your vacation rental, think about donating before dumping. Find a food bank near you, such as the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, founded in 1975.
