BACIC, Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Bring Awareness to Dangers of Underage Drinking

The Beverage Alcohol Community Information Council (BACIC) and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety are encouraging teens, parents, teachers and the community to “Step Up. Listen Up. Own Up.” when it comes to underage drinking in Arizona.

The organizations’ Own Up campaign challenges teens to pledge not to drink alcohol before the legal age. A recent Arizona Youth Survey reports that 20 percent of youth (12 to 20 years of age) reported drinking alcohol within 30 days of the survey; 47 percent obtained alcohol from parties; and 23 percent obtained it from their own home or from a relative over 21.
