Soccer season in Arizona, which has me thinking about how folks with differing opinions can engage in meaningful conversation.
Metaphorically speaking, this occurs daily on the turf: A diverse group of players come together to accomplish a common goal. Period.
From the wealthiest neighborhoods in the U.S. to abject poverty in South and Central America, these individuals’ differences span coaching and education to socioeconomic status and politics.
Still, they take to the field as one – agreeing to disagree without vilifying one another.
And that’s the beauty of athletics: If sports teams can do it, Americans can do it, right?
