Taste of Hawaii via mochi donuts

by Katem

Tempe is teeming with international flair, and poi mochi (or mochi donuts) are among its many flavors. This popular fusion pastry crosses the traditional American doughnut with Japanese mochi.

The result? A moist and chewy (sweet) treat whose earliest iterations arose in Hawaii during early 1990s.

This May, celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by visiting Mochinut’s four locations across Arizona: in Tempe (117 E Southern Ave.); Chandler (1920 W Chandler Blvd.); Gilbert (744 W Ray Road); and Peoria (7549 W Cactus Road).

Choose from black sesame, matcha and more – plus Korean rice flour hotdogs and bubble tea.
