Last month, Special Olympics Arizona (SOAZ) athletes trekked to Berlin, Germany for the Special Olympics World Games.
Amy Bockerstette teed off in the individual golf competition (with father Joe as her caddy) while the Unified co-ed basketball team – including athletes Lindsay Hayes, Sarah Gaudio, Vanessa Robles and partners Taylor Lifgren and Summer Burgess – competed in the 3×3 tournament and the Unified competitive cheer team cheered on the athletes.
“This [was] truly a chance of a lifetime … [and] we are so proud of our athletes and partners who … represent[ed] the state of Arizona,” said SOAZ President and CEO Jamie Heckerman.
