As temperatures rise, so will the number of drownings and near-drownings in Arizona, mostly involving small children. The state, most counties and cities have pool barrier laws in place. These laws require swimming pools (and other contained bodies of water) be enclosed by a fence to restrict access from an adjoining property. These laws also require a barrier to restrict easy access from the home to the pool.
Arizona REALTORS® encourages home buyers to be aware of pool barrier laws prior to purchasing a home with a pool, removing barriers, altering, repairing or replacing pool barriers and building a pool.
