The history of Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, initially called Garrett Corporate, dates back to 1914 and the first-ever demo of autopilot. In 1942, the company headquarters moved to Phoenix where it’s been a cornerstone of the economy since 1942.
A pair of WWII-era inventions – including the advent of avionics and autopilot on bomber planes – proved a boon for business. Post 1945, the company evolved to bring emerging technologies to a range of platforms spanning commercial aviation to space exploration.
Honeywell Aerospace generates $15 billion in revenue from its Arizona headquarters, putting Phoenix – and all of south-central Arizona – on the world’s technological map.
