A recent study by University of Arizona professors says that not expressing your true feelings while at work may make you less productive. Looking at more than 2,500 full-time employees, the researchers found four distinct categories of workers: deep actors, non-actors, low actors and regulators.
The results suggest that certain employees are driven to regulate their emotions (deep actors), while others are more driven by how others may react (regulators). Non-actors and deep actors may incur more emotional benefit, but deep actors alone will experience more trust from their coworkers, as well as more offers to help and provide assistance.
