Buena Vista at Chandler, a 50,000-square-foot drug and alcohol detox and treatment campus, has opened and will begin accepting residential patients in September. The campus, located at 3033 S. Arizona Ave. in Chandler, has been treating out-patient guests since July.

The campus offers specially licensed medical staff on-site 24 hours a day and a full range of treatment services, including: medically monitored detox; inpatient residential treatment; partial hospitalization; intensive outpatient; outpatient; medication assisted treatment; primary care medicine; and telemedicine. Not typical of residential treatment centers, Buena Vista at Chandler has 70 private rooms with restrooms.

The campus offers treatment programs to men and women, aged 18 and older.

Features of the campus include individual therapy and group therapy spaces, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, dining room and transportation services on site. All guests are able to take part in on-site activities including exercise classes, art therapy, yoga and more.

Leading the medical team is Dr. Paul R. Valbuena, who is a double board-certified psychiatrist and addictionologist, serving as Buena Vista at Chandler’s medical director. An addictionologist is a specialist in the diagnosis, study and treatment of psychological dependence.

Julie Nave, MA, LPC will serve as clinical director of the campus. Nave has been independently licensed by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health since 2004 and brings more than 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field.

Buena Vista at Chandler will employ approximately 100 people and is unique in its design, approach and services.

Buena Vista at Chandler is among the only campus of its kind to provide primary care services to its guests.

This means that even though traditional inpatient and outpatient treatment have concluded, guests are still able to see the primary care providers from Buena Vista for routine medical needs ranging from allergies, flu and colds to routine physicals and check-ups.

The campus accepts a wide variety of private and public health insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Coventry, HealthNet, Humana, Care1st, Mercy Care, Magellan and United HealthCare, among others.

This campus is Buena Vista’s second location in Arizona. Buena Vista at Tatum Ranch, a 10,000-square-foot campus located in Cave Creek, opened in 2017. Buena Vista will open two additional locations over the next 12 to 18 months. The Buena Vista at Tucson campus is expected to open in late 2019 or in the first quarter of 2020. The Buena Vista at Loveland, Colo. campus is expected to open by mid-2020.
