Last year, the Arizona tourism industry reached new heights with a record number of overnight visitors – 45.4 million – and a record amount of visitor spending – $24.4 billion.
Let’s put those numbers into context.
Forty-five million is more than the entire population of either Canada or California. Importing that many consumers into Arizona is a huge boon for local businesses, Arizona taxpayers and communities.
And the $24 billion spent by Arizona visitors? That helps communities across Arizona pay the salaries of teachers and police officers; fund infrastructure projects; and maintain parks, youth-sports programs and spring-training stadiums.
